Gardens & Contributions

Theme garden 28 - Blind and Impressions Landscape

The planting of the Blind and Impressions Landscape was designed in collaboration with the masterclass in horticulture and landscape construction from Rostrup. The individual themed areas are clearly recognisable for visitors. Paths that are easily accessible for the visually impaired improve access to the exhibit. The aspect of acoustic sensory experience has been enhanced by a new sensory element donated by the von Falkenhayn family from Bad Zwischenahn: the “Dancing Chimes”. It combines movement with sound. People of almost all ages will enjoy creating bright, resonant tones by hopping, jumping or even dancing.

Contribution C - Fountain for the blind

Under the motto “Those who want to hear must feel,” the artist Andreas Rimkus from Springe created a fountain designed by the blind, for both blind and sighted visitors.

The four bronze sculptures, titled “The Four Seasons,” were created as part of a project that Rimkus carried out together with blind children and young people. How does a blind person “see” winter, summer, spring and autumn? The children and young people modelled their feelings for each of the seasons.

The secret of the fountain:
Please gently touch all the stone surfaces as well as the bronze sculptures “The Four Seasons.” In doing so, you will uncover the many secrets of the fountain.
